About Us

Southeast Renal Research Institute is a private research organization focused exclusively on research of kidney-related diseases including cross-specialty clinical studies. SERRI is a division of Nephrology Associates, based in Chattanooga Tennessee. 

Nephrology Associates is comprised of fifteen MD Nephrologists, five of whom serve as principal investigators for SERRI. All Nephrology Associates physicians are double boarded in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Some of the MDs are also specialty certified in hypertension, organ transplant, vascular intervention, or diagnostic interpretation.

SERRI has access to Nephrology Associates' Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system with over 10,000 active chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, most with multiple associated diagnoses, and the practice has strong, long-standing referral relationships with cardiology, oncology, pulmonary, neurology, and gastroenterology, which facilitates cross-specialty clinical studies.  The EMR can be queried by Cognos, a software program, to narrow down the inclusion / exclusion criteria and find the perfect patients.  Over ten thousand patient's records are housed in our EMR.

SERRI is associated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine program where our investigators serve as clinical associates or associate professors. Our investigators are also credentialed at ten acute-inpatient centers, including three major regional referral centers.
